5. 내 용 : Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) is a laser-based approach that is non-intrusive and offers whole field measurements with the potential for higher resolution and increased accuracy. The technique is totally independent of conventional flow velocity measurements in fire systems. The approach for this study is to apply Stereoscopic PIV to measure the complete velocity field, induced by a full-scale enclosure fire, across the doorway of the enclosure. Conventional measurements of temperature and differential pressure will be simultaneously conducted to infer mass flow rate and flow velocity, respectively. Comparisons of flow velocity and mass flow rated inferred from each measurement technique will be performed. For the first time a full spatial mapping of a fire induced vent flow will be conducted using a non-intrusive technique, and a totally independent comparison of fire induced velocity measurements will be available. The spatial extent and resolution of the data will create a very information rich database that will be very valuable to developers of computational models in validation exercises.
