5. ABSTRACT :
Physical Human-Robot Interactions (pHRI) has been referred as a study of closely connected Human-Machine System that involves haptic, motor, and other physical interactions between humans and robots. Combined with the frontier of bioRobotic applications from neural prosthesis to haptics, pHRI has the potential to increase the quality and capability of interactions and manipulations by integrating signal /power transfer through mechanical medium. Several applications already use this idea; these include medical trainers in virtual environments, telemanipulation and biosignal based human interface devices. Behind this exciting research field, the modeling of biomechanical system and signal processing of biosignals should work. In this seminar, the several research activities of pHRI including haptic applications and EMG-based hand force prediction will be discussed. The topics will cover from haptic applications, to the real time assistive technologies based on noninvasive biosignals.
