5. 내 용
 Photonic crystals are ultra-compact highly integrated nano scale structures which demonstrated the possibility of generating, manipulating, processing, transmitting and detecting light. However, most photonic crystal devices are “passive” structures without any means of external on-demand control. Adding tunability to the photonic crystals would greatly expand their application areas and enable unforeseen new application areas. MEMS/NEMS technologies are ideally positioned to provide a wide variety of unprecedented radical options of tunability to the passive photonic crystal devices as they can be co-integrated with photonic crystals. In addition, flexible polymer-based tunable photonic crystals can be used as an innovative high sensitivity sensor that can measure 2D strain simultaneously in real-time. In this talk, a variety of tunable nano photonic crystal devices and behind principles will be presented.

6. 약 력
Dr. Jeong-Bong Lee received the Ph.D. degree from Georgia Tech, Atlanta, Georgia in 1997. He is currently a tenured full professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at UT Dallas. His current research interests include MEMS and nano photonics. He received the prestigious National Science Foundation CAREER AWARD (formerly known as the Presidential Young Investigator Award) in 2001. He has 5 U.S. patents, more than 55 journal papers, more than 145 conference papers published and got more than 1,700 citations. He has served as a program committee member for international conferences including Transducers 2013, 2011 Conference, IEEE Sensors Conference. He also served as a member of external advisory board for the Microsystems division at the Sandia National Laboratories in 2007.
