This is going to be an informative lecture on how models and experiments are being set up by our team of graduate students to understand the high energy matter (HEM) response at eXtreme conditions.Some conventional energetic matters under consideration are high explosives, propellants, and hydrocarbon-based fuels.
Innovative source of high energy is being sought by setting up a high power (pulsed)
laser system that can deliver a close-to-real eXtreme environment for testing energetic
and inert elements of modern interest. For clarity of presentation for our student
audience, I have divided the lecture into three parts:
I)Thermal explosion theories and models for understanding scaled experiments
II)High power laser system for innovative biomedical use and industrial safety applications
III)Development of a new multi-material extreme dynamics analysis tool
