6. 내용요약
This seminar focuses on a number of unsteady turbomachinery flow problems encountered in gas turbine engines. Although unsteadiness in fluid motion is necessary for work exchange in such machines, the unsteady nature of fluid flow can be a real nuisance and be manifested in vibrations and waves. These can limit the operating range (aerodynamic oscillations and instabilities), induce structural failure and malfunction (mechanical vibrations), and generate noise (acoustics of fluid flow and structure interaction). The seminar will discuss a selection of turbomachinery problems where vibrations and waves are essential and where a dynamical system point of view proved successful in the modeling, analysis and the solution of the issues at hand. Although the technological problems are different in nature and cut across disciplines, the seminar will show that “vibrations and waves” form a common thread, and that well-defined modeling goals can help tackle complex problems.
