6. 내용요약 :
Micropatterned surfaces represent the confluence of microfabrication and surface science. Such surfaces have gained acceptance in the field of cell/tissue engineering and are used extensively to define (manipulate) cellular microenvironment in vitro. This presentation will describe the efforts of our laboratory to create surfaces that can be used for screening cellular stimuli and for culturing two or more cell types in proximity to each other. The approaches for biointerface design to be discussed include printed protein arrays, photoresist lithography, photopatterning of hydrogels and electrochemical switching. Applications of these approaches in stem cell differentiation and hepatic tissue engineering will be demonstrated. It is our belief that cells cultured on micropatterned surfaces need to be integrated with biosensors for local monitoring of cellular function. This presentation will also describe the development of enzyme- and antibody-based biosensors that can be used for in situ monitoring of small molecules and proteins secreted by micropatterned cells.
