Research Interest
Prof. Insoo Jun is a distinguished expert in space environments and their complex interactions with space systems and planetary bodies. Over a prolific >25 year career at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (2000–2026), he played a pivotal leadership role in space environments and effects—a critical discipline integrated into nearly every JPL flight mission to ensure mission success.
His expertise spans the full spectrum of space mission development, from fundamental environmental analysis to the strategic design of both small-scale and large-scale space explorations. Prof. Jun’s contributions have been recognized with numerous prestigious accolades, including the JPL Magellan Award (2023) and the NASA Exceptional Public Service Medal (2018).
